About BSCI
BSCI was launched in 2003 as an initiative of the Foreign Trade Association (FTA). Its founding was established as a response to the increasing business demand for transparent and improved working conditions in the global supply chain. An overview of the BSCI background can be found under Why BSCI exists.
We unite over 1000 companies around one common Code of Conduct and support them in their efforts towards building an ethical supply chain by providing them with a step-by-step development-oriented system, applicable to all sectors and all sourcing countries.
The fundamental goals of BSCI are only achievable through a strong commitment from Participants to implement the system. Our work is based on several principles which our Participants accept upon joining us. These principles ensure a strong, credible and achievable commitment from both ourselves and the Participants which will ultimately help us to achieve our goal.
BSCI is a service open to all retail, brand and importing companies committed to improving working conditions in the global supply chain. Interested companies and associations can only request to participate in BSCI after joining the FTA. Find out more information on joining the initiative under Join us.
BSCI is a platform of businesses where all Participants are invited to play an active role. More information on how the BSCI is governed and how Participants contribute is available under Governance.
The BSCI's Secretariat is responsible for the implementation of the organisation's objectives and its day to day management. More information can be found under The team.
